MSN Is Being Dumb

Ever since MSN shoved it's upgrade down my computer's throat I've been having this weird problem with message alerts. You know when you're IM-ing and it'll tell you, X is typing, X is writing a message? It won't do that anymore. My roommate's works just fine after hers upgraded. What gives?

Tell me what version of Jaws you run, or what screen reader. Check the messenger settingings on your screen reader to make sure they are still on. Insert V brings you to these in Jaws.

yeah, everything he said.

when i upgraded to messenger, i had to update my jaws, all because it wouldn't do what it was supposed too.

works fine now though.

MSN can be such a prick sometimes.

I've been having a problem lately with MSnN where it says I'm not signed in and so won't let me see my contact list. Yet, I can still see people signing in and they are saying I'm set to available or online. This has been happening since Friday I think. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Sorry for the late reply. I have Jaws version 9. Didn't know Jaws had messenger settings.

Yes Jaws has messenger settings even Jaws 9.
Now to fix the MSN issue for the other poster uninstall it, then reinstall it. You are missing files. You can run the repair instead of completely uninstalling, but if have issues just redo.

I tried messenger 9, but it sucked, even when I upgraded jaws.
Plus, my messenger plus wasn't working, so I switched back to 8.5, I found it on oldversion.com... and yeah. Now, we're back in business.

Windows Messenger changes people's names back when they log into that now if they use it instead of the live messenger. That's annoying as if I'm volunteering, Windows Messenger is the only thing on the computer.

Is there another way to locate the settings? Insert V only brings up general, reading, editing etc.

You must be in or on messenger to get the correct settings. Open messenger, sign in then try the insert V.
There is a board on Windows messenger changing names and why also poster 9. Smile.

I just downloaded it from oldversion.com and installed it after uninstalling 9.0. Not a peep from it since.
